GLADYS ESTHER BLACK (ALLEN)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS ESTHER BLACK (nee ALLEN) Peacefully on January 20, 2007 at Victoria General Hospital, Gladys Black passed away at the age of 97. She was predeceased in 1972 by her first husband Lorne Johns, and in 1993 by her second husband George Black. She was also predeceased by her parents, Alfred Ernest and Winifred Esther Allen; her sister Winifred Mann and her husband Leslie; brother Arthur (Lel) Allen and his wife Sigrid; niece Valerie Zuke-Allen; nephew Melvin Mann. Left to cherish her memory are her brother George Allen and his wife Cec; three generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. Gladys was born in England on February 16, 1909. She moved to Canada with her family as a young girl, living on McAdam Avenue, West Kildonan for most of her life. She enjoyed curling, lawn bowling, writing, and the company of her friends and family. Gladys had a loving pride for her family, and was always the first to speak up about our accomplishments. Her support was constant, and appreciated. Her caring outlook was extended to her affection for animals. Rest in peace, Auntie Gladys. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at the Poseidon Care Centre for the devoted care given to Gladys. Remembrances may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3 in Gladys' memory. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., with Rev. Bill Tuininga, Covenant Christian Reformed Church presiding.
