ITALIA (EDITH) TORCHIA It is with sadness that the family of Italia Torchia announce her passing on Monday, January 22, 2007 at St. Boniface Hospital. She was predeceased by her mother Felicia and father Francesco Caligiuri. Italia is survived by her husband Raffaele, who she was married to for 45 years. Her children, Nina (Larry), Angelo (Christine), Amanda (Sean) and her grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Thomas and Kaitlyn. She also left to mourn her sisters, Mary (David) and Gina (Tony); brother Sam (Andrea), and many friends and extended family. Italia was born in Amato, Italy on March 26, 1940. She married Raffaele on June 2, 1962. Together they raised their children and loved to spend time with their grandchildren. Italia was a dedicated mother, wife and a wonderful grandmother. She was a kind and honest giving woman who lived a wonderful life. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the staff on 5E and M.I.C.U. at St. Boniface Hospital. Also to nurse Bonnie, Dr. Wong and Dr. Molson for their compassion, support and outstanding care. Prayers will be said on January 25, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. Followed by funeral mass on January 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Parish with Father Sam Argenziano. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum located at 1501 Waverley St. Pallbearers: Joe Fiorentino, Michaelangelo Guzzi, Thomas Guzzi, Frank Fiorentino, Tony Guzzi and Frank Guzzi. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Fayle, Daniel Fayle and Agostino Fiorentino. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
