MARION PENNER (nee PUDDICOMBE) It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Marion Elizabeth Penner on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 66. Marion will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 46 years, John; her children, Darrell (Karen) and Kevin (Tracy), and her six grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Adam, Tyler, Ceara and Duane, all of Winnipeg. She also leaves to mourn one brother Bill (Betty) Puddicombe of Winnipeg and one sister Val (Frank) Carriere of Summerland, BC and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Arthur (Fred) in 2006; her mother Mabel, and her brothers, Frank, Clarence and Ron. Marion was born in Lakeland, MB and lived on the farm for many years. As a young girl, Marion excelled in track and field, baseball and soccer. Marion then moved to Winnipeg and worked at Nutty Club. In 1957, she met the love of her life and soulmate, John, and they were married June 25, 1960. Marion was a very special person. She enjoyed working until her retirement last year. She spent close to 20 years with The Bay and Zellers. She won many awards at work and was known by many customers. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren. Whether it was at hockey, soccer or football games, gymnastics or a concert, she was always there for support and could be heard cheering them on. She was also a great cook. No one ever went hungry when she was around; she loved making cookies and home made soup. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, painting; and making crafts, particularly with her six angels. She loved spending time with friends going for coffee, out for dinner or attending the meat draws at the local Legion, which she and John joined last year. She always helped out whoever needed a hand. She showed us all what unconditional love really meant. As an Organ Donor she made the choice to continue to help others even with her passing. The family wishes to thank the paramedics and the emergency staff at Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Cremation has taken place, family interment to be held at a later date. On Friday, January 26, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. there will be Prayer and Reflection. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 12:00 noon. Both services will be held at The Salvation Army, Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road, Winnipeg, MB.
