Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINIFRED IRENE CRAMER (FAULKNER) Peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Baldur Health Centre, Winifred Irene Cramer (nee Faulkner) passed away at the age of 84 years. Irene was born on September 15, 1922 in Leicester, England and had served in the British Armed Forces as a height taker on anti-aircraft guns. She married a Canadian soldier, Jim Cramer, on October 31, 1942 and arrived in Canada in 1945 with son Brian. They travelled by ship to Halifax, then by train to Winnipeg where her new Canadian family was waiting to welcome them home to the farm in Baldur. From a big city to a small community was quite an adjustment. Irene said what she noticed the most was the quiet. They lived on the farm at Baldur until 1965, then moved to Douglas where Jim managed the Manitoba Sire Index Centre and Irene was secretary for the Association. They retired to Baldur in 1982 where Irene was able to devote more time with her favourite passions of gardening and knitting. She was actively involved with the War Brides Association, the Baldur U.C.W., the Women's Institute and the Baldur Legion. Irene was predeceased by husband Jim in May 1994; son Barry in 1997; son-in-law Glen in 2006; by a sister Marjorie and a brother Alec. She is survived by her sister Gwen (Ray); brother Ken and numerous nieces and nephews in England; her son Brian (Carole); daughter Marion; daughter-in-law Loraine and chosen son John (Danielle), 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Baldur United Church with Rev. Irene Onuch officiating. Interment will take place in the Baldur Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
