NICK MYKETA It is with profound sadness that the family of Nick Myketa announces his sudden passing on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Nick is survived by his wife of 51 years, Teenie; as well as daughters, Pat and Marlene (Doug) and grandsons, Aaron and Mike. Also mourning his passing are his sister Stella (Mel) and children, Sandra, Ron (Marylea) and Ken (Shelly) and families; brother George and children, Donna (Shawn), Peter and Christine (Mike) and families; sister Evelyn (Jim) and children, Theresa (James) and Tammy (Michael) and family. He is also remembered by his Aunt Stephanie Mikita of Winnipeg Beach, as well as sister-in-law Adeline (Moe), Mike (Laraine) and Aunt Amelia Ciastko. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Anne, as well as sister-in-law Joan Myketa. He will be sadly missed by his furry companion Pepper, whose suppers will never be the same. Nick worked for the City of Winnipeg for 38 years, retiring in 1990. In his career with the City, he worked in the Waterworks and Civic Properties departments. He was a proud long-time member of the Civic Caledonian Curling Club and a past president of the Manitoba Curling Association Past Presidents Association. Nick will be remembered for his love of family and great hospitality. The joys of his life were his two grandsons, Aaron and Mike. There was nothing he would not do for them. He thoroughly enjoyed watching them curl in their Friday afternoon school league. He was a master wood worker, although at a snail's pace, with the finished product always of excellent quality. His greatest times in life were when he had a houseful of guests on New Year's Day, or a cottage full of family over for a Saturday night bonfire. Uncle Nick , as he was well known as, left a lasting impression of kindness, love for each other and great hospitality - that often began with a bottle of beer or a shot of rye. We would like to thank the staff of A3 and MICU at Health Sciences Centre, as well as MICU staff at St. Boniface Hospital. Your care and compassion was exemplary and will not be forgotten. Also thank you to Dr. Poon and Dr. Koulack for your expertise. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 28, 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 10:00 a.m. also at Glen Eden Funeral Home with interment and reception to follow. Fr. Walter Klimchuk and Deacon Gordon Mendres officiating. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
