GORDON BUCHAN It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family of Gordon Buck Buchan, age 75, of Whytewold Beach, Manitoba, announce his sudden passing on January 24, 2007 after a brief illness with leukemia. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Peggy, on November 11, 2000. Dad was born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 31, 1931. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and served until 1965, at which time he joined the Canadian Elevator Industry. He retired in 1991, following which, he moved to Whytewold Beach with his wife and Joyce and Jim Hannah. He was a member of the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans, Unit 283, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 182 in Gimli, Manitoba. He was also a lifetime member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 102. Dad is survived by his three children. His son Bob and wife Tiffany, daughter Kim and husband Martin, and son Rick and wife Donna. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Kaleigh and husband Kyle, Kristy, Nick, Zach, Gabby, and Brooke. Dad will also be missed by his many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, their families, and many friends at the lake. Bob, Kim, Rick and their families would like to thank Aunt Joyce and Uncle Jim from the bottom of our hearts for the all the years of love they have shown to us and mom and dad. We will forever be indebted for all the compassion and care that they have provided to mom and dad over the last several years. They were not only family, but mom and dad's lifelong friends. Together they laughed, loved, cried, and enjoyed many wonderful experiences. Dad was predeceased by various in-laws, as well as his parents, Elisabeth and David Buchan, and brothers, David and Ken. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Gilbart Funeral Home at 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk, Manitoba at 1:00 p.m. In memory of Dad, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
