EDWARD (ED) GEORGE WONG
Date of Passing: Dec 10, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD (ED) GEORGE WONG Unexpectedly but peacefully, Ed passed away in Weslaco, TX on December 10, 2006. Left to cherish his memory is wife Lesley; daughters, Arleigh (Dan) and Robyn; brothers, Ray (Lynda), Gary (Helene) and William (Marsha); sisters, Mary Rose and Patsy, many nieces and nephews. Born in Antigonish, NS, he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a B.Sc., in Forestry Engineering. After travelling west, he settled in Manitoba and was hired as Regional Manager of the Northern Region Parks Branch. In 1975, he became manager of the Central and Eastern Regions and later was appointed Director for The Department of Natural Resources for the province. He was a Rotary member, organizer of the Trappers Festival, member of the Golden Falcon Golf Committee, and did volunteer work for C.E.S.O. Following retirement he found the perfect job cutting grass at the St. Charles Country Club. Besides his love for Lesley and his two daughters, Ed had four great loves - music, golf, travelling and Koko the family cat. Ed loved playing the harmonica, and along with Mitch Podolak, was instrumental in securing the Folk Festival site at Bird's Hill Park. His passion for seeing the world, took him and Lesley to many countries on the road less travelled. Ed was best known for his integrity and his support of family and friends. He had the ability to make everyone feel that when they met, they were exactly the person he was hoping to see. Cremation has taken place, and to celebrate and remember Ed's life, there will be a gathering of friends and family at St. Charles Country Club (100 Country Club Blvd.) on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital. We are all richer for knowing you Ed, husband, father, friend. You will be missed.
