JACOB OVERWATER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob Overwater on January 26, 2007 at his home at the age of 92. He is survived by Florence, his devoted wife of 64 years; and children, Anne (Al) Aime, Mary (Bill) Tomlinson, Irene (Dick) Spradbrow, Elaine (Grant) Ferguson, Albert (Rose) Overwater, Geraldine (Stan) Mehler, Thomas (Jadwiga) Overwater, Michael Overwater, Margaret (Rene) Ouellette, as well as 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are his brother John (Alice); sisters, Betty Carrette, Beatrice Van Walleghem, Marie Schreyer, Jacqueline Buchanan and sister-in-law Irene Overwater. Jake was predeceased by his infant children, Ernest and Christine; and by his sisters, Alida Overwater, Anne Janssens, Bernadine Overwater and brothers, Ernie and Neil. Jake farmed in the Charleswood area all his life. He started as a market gardener as a young man and later specialized in grain and sugar beets. Finally in his retirement years he returned to his market gardening roots and was well-known for the best corn and potatoes around. When his work was done the fishing begun . Jake also enjoyed hunting, Knights of Columbus and travelling to see his children wherever they happened to be. He was happy to be a snowbird for many years. Jake always put his family first, and through example, he tried to instill the values of honesty, integrity, loyalty and hard work. We thank you Dad for that, and will miss you dearly. Flowers gratefully declined, but if friends wish, they can make a donation to a charity of their choice.
