Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN ELSIE PIHICHYN (nee POLLARD) 1919 - 2007 A memorial service was held in Vancouver on Saturday, January 27, 2007 for Doreen Elsie Pihichyn. Doreen passed away on January 8, 2007 following a stroke. She was 88. She is survived by her son, Paul Pihichyn and granddaughters, Kara McRedmond and Amanda Pihichyn of Winnipeg; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Gabrielle McRedmond; her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and David Dodge; and grandsons, Matthew, Spencer and Simon of Vancouver; and her sister, Peggy Bannister, in England. Doreen's husband of 48 years, Peter, died in 1995. Doreen was born on August 7, 1919, in Cardiff, Wales. She served as an ambulance driver with the British Army in London during the Second World War. Doreen and Peter were married on February 22, 1947, in London and immigrated to Canada with their son Paul in 1951, settling in Winnipeg. Doreen, Peter and Joanne moved to British Columbia in 1968, living first in Lillooet, then Vancouver and Sechelt. For the past 10 years, Doreen lived in Vancouver. Doreen was a volunteer and leader in the Boy Scouts during her time in Winnipeg and with the Air Cadets in Sechelt. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served as president of Branch 140 in Sechelt. Donations may be made in Doreen's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
