Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE ANDREW GASKIN George Andrew Gaskin, beloved husband of Lou Gaskin, passed away peacefully January 27, 2007 at the hospital in Stonewall. Andrew was born November 27, 1926 in Georgetown, Guyana, S.A. He came to Canada in 1950 and joined the R.C.A.F. He met Mary Lou Stangl while stationed in Winnipeg, MB. Their first son Michael was born while Andrew was stationed in Greenwood, NS. Second and third sons, Mark and John Dennis (Danny) were born in Winnipeg. Andrew retired from the Air Force and pursued a career as a counsellor for the Federal Employment and Immigration Department. His last position was with the federal government as a manager of the University of Manitoba Student Placement Office. He retired in 1980 and enjoyed many years at his home, Winsaga Woods, doing pottery, gardening and enjoying the simple things of life. Andrew is survived by his wife, Lou, of 53 years; sons, Michael, Mark and Danny; his sister Anne; brother Dick (Wendy) and sister-in-law Linda; also daughters-in-law, Kim (Paul) and Marianne (Robert); grandchildren, Craig, Justin, Jasmine, Bonnie, Jordon, Arlo and great-grandchildren, Avery, Owen and Zachery. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Frances Stangl; in-laws, Marian Stangl Miller (Jim), Sue Wright, Beulah and Clifford Morison, Shirley Nolan, Pat Tkachyk, Therese and Ed Reinsch, Geri and Richard Gomola, Barbara and Rene Alarie, Greg and Marilyn Stangl and many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be held at the MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Stonewall at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Monseigneur Samson at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 1 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St., Winnipeg. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care and a special thanks to Kathy Turner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Siloam Mission, 300 Princess, Winnipeg.
