LAWRENCE (LARRY) WATTS Our family wishes to announce the passing of Larry Watts on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 76 years. Larry was the beloved husband of Peggy, and loving dad to Cynthia (Darryl) Ostapyk, Neil (Carol) Watts, and Dean (Adele) Watts, and grandad to Tyler, Devan, Meagan, Kaitlyn, Tiera, Aysia and Leiya. He also leaves to mourn sister,s Gail Jones and Linda Weichel of BC, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barry and Esther McGill, and Carol and Keith Lawless, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was born in Carnduff, Saskatchewan in 1930 and grew up in the Nottingham District where he attended school. It was the early years on the farm that sewed the seeds for a love of the land that Dad carried with him for life. Larry met Peggy in 1951 in Broomhill and they married in 1954, settling first in Somme, Saskatchewan and finally Winnipeg. Larry had a long and successful career in the seed industry, working for Brett Young Seeds, Manitoba Pool, and finally establishing his own business, Bison Seed Grain. He was actively involved in the Canadian and American Seed Trade Associations. Through these associations and throughout his career, he made many friends and was able to travel to many places in the U.S., Europe and South America. Dad was always a man on the move and enjoyed many hobbies. Although a man of few sentiments, Dad showed his love by all of the things he did for others. One of his building projects in the early years was a camper trailer that the family used to travel to many places, one of their favorites being Bemidji, Minnesota. One accomplishment that he was very proud of was obtaining his pilot's license and he spent many happy hours flying his own plane. He also enjoyed farming his acreage in Oak Bluff and spent time building rec rooms and furniture for his kids and grandkids. Dad was a member of Transcona Memorial United Church. In his retirement, Dad continued to be very busy. He and Mom spent 15 years wintering in Englewood, Florida where they have established another circle of friends. He was active in the Englewood Methodist Church where he spent Saturdays flipping pancakes for the 1000+ people who attended. Dad was also active in the development of the Park City Meadows Housing Co-Op. A private graveside service will be held later this week. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Transcona Memorial United Church. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
