KATHERINE EWASKIW (EVANS) (nee KASHMAR) Katherine (Kay) passed away peacefully on January 24, 2007 at the Holy Family Nursing Home at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Frank of 66 years, parents, Eva and Roman Kashmar, sister Mary and brother Bill; daughter-in-law Robin and grandson Keith. Katherine is lovingly remembered by her sons, Gary (Terri) and Gordon (Lorraine); one daughter Dorothy; grandchildren, Brad (Martina), Kathy, Paula (Sean), Kris (Greg) and great-grandchildren, Alex and Ayla. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sophie Stoyan, nieces and nephews, especially Pat (Paul) and several friends and neighbours. Katherine was a wonderful mother and a cheerful, kind and caring person with a great sense of humour. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, sewing and travelling with her husband Frank. She was a member of St. Edward's C.W.L. and St. Edward's Parish for over 50 years. She also enjoyed dinners and social outings with her family and friends. The family would like to thank St. Boniface Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, Misericordia Health Centre/Place and Holy Family Nursing Home (2A) where she recently resided. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Rev. Msgr. Louis J. McCloskey officiating. Interment to follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made in Katherine's memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice.
