LORRAINE COWAN 1929 2007 Peacefully with her family and her faithful companion, Pepi, at her side, Lorraine Cowan passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Riverview Health Centre after a valiant battle with cancer. Lorraine was the only daughter of the late Russell and Hazel (Joe) Earl of Somerset, Manitoba, and sister to Bud who predeceased her. Her husband, Robert (Bob) Cowan, predeceased her in 1993. Lorraine will forever hold a monumental place in the hearts of Grant (Sandy, and children Chad, Jace, Pam and Tiffany), Larry (Chris), Val Eckert (Digger, and sons Ryan and Scott), Glenn (children, Meagan, Lorne and Chase), all of Winnipeg, and Shawn (Paul) of Brandon. Lorraine was born in Somerset, Manitoba where her parents farmed. She met Bob in Somerset while he was teaching at Norquay School. They married in 1949 and lived at the Cowan family farm North of Roblin, Manitoba and then moved into town where they operated an Insurance and Floral business. They semi retired to Brandon in 1974. Lorraine had a great sense of humor, was an avid reader and enjoyed decorating her home. She had a dedication to aquasize at the Brandon YMCA where she was a member for 30 years. She had a weakness for dark chocolate and a flair for music, especially piano. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the generous caregivers at Cancer Care Manitoba and the Riverview Heath Centre. God bless you all. A Celebration of Life will commence Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Georges Anglican Church, corner of 5th Street and Southern Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba. An interment will take place in the spring at Beacons Field Cemetery near Somerset, Manitoba.
