LINDA KATHERINE PARK We are deeply saddened to announce Linda's passing on January 28, 2007 at home in Matlock, Manitoba. Born in Gimli, Linda was the beloved daughter of Jane Jenny Park (Harper) and the late Edgar Park of Matlock and was the second in the family of six children. Her brothers, sister and their spouses loved, and were loved by Linda. She will be deeply missed by Leonard, Edward Ted (Dawn), Wendy (Robert Phillips), Dean and Richard. With her warm and caring manner, Linda won the hearts of her nieces, nephews and their families Jennifer Lopez (her husband Carlos, and Zaya, Jade and Sage), Jordon Park (his wife Erin, and Aubrie and Jaxen), Misty Dawn McDonald, Hope Ruvinsky (her husband Nick, and Alexis), Christian and Sarah Phillips, and Teagan and Keenan Park. Linda will be remembered with love and respect by her extended family, her wide circle of friends, and by her colleagues. After completing high school, Linda studied sociology at the University of Manitoba and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree. While she intended to pursue a career in social work, she instead enjoyed a long, satisfying and successful career with the Royal Bank of Canada, which began in Winnipeg and took her to Head Office in Montreal and Toronto. Her strong analytical and problem solving skills were instrumental in the design and implementation of computer systems currently used in branches nation-wide. After a three year posting with a Moncton computer services company, Linda returned to Winnipeg and to Royal Bank, where she distinguished herself in two developing fields employment diversity and aboriginal banking initiatives. Because of her knowledge, communication skills and plain common sense, Linda was a valuable asset to the Board of Directors of the numerous and various organizations related to these fields. She gave generously of her time and talents to all. While her business life took much of her time, Linda had one overriding priority her family and close friends. She was happiest when she was sharing food, laughs, and time with any one of them and a gathering of them was very special too. She will be celebrated, missed and remembered by all of them. Linda's qualities, in every aspect of her life, shone. She was competent, creative, brave and quietly determined. She was wise and generous, considerate and loyal. She rarely complained, kept a positive outlook, and enjoyed an ever-present sense of humour. She loved and was loved. Linda and her family appreciated and give thanks for the professional and caring support she received from the many health care providers that assisted and supported her during her illness, particularly Dr. Demsas, Melanie and Debbie and the staff at Selkirk General Hospital. The family also thanks the help and support of Karen and Carol from Interlake Palliative Care. Throughout her illness Linda received tremendous support and love from her friends, particularly Charlotte, Beverly and Yvonne which was of great comfort to her and her family. A celebration of Linda's life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. Should you wish to honour Linda's memory a donation to Robinson Spur Cemetery (care of Vick Clayton, Box 106, Matlock, Manitoba, R0C 2B0) or any charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
