Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL GALBRAITH (nee KILGOUR) Muriel Galbraith, at the age of 81, passed away peacefullly on January 29, 2007 at Selkirk General Hospital. Muriel was predeceased by her husband William (Bill); brothers, George and Harry; sister Madge; brothers-in-law, Sam and Bob and daughter-in-law Susan. Muriel is survived by her sister Myrtle Hunter; brother Art (Grace) Kilgour; sisters-in-law, Thelma Galbraith and Winnie Laing, numerous nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by sons, Bruce (Christina), Ross (Bev) and daughter Marilyn (Bob) Stewart. Grandchildren, Christopher (great-granddaughter Kira), Patrick (Cheryl), Bryan (Nicole), Kirsten (Dustin), Roth and Kevin. Extended family, Cam (Brooke), Jayden and Lane Stewart; Ian Stewart; Randy (Jen) Corrigal; Cathy (Steve), Thea, Julia, Karina Macey; Tiffany (Don), Nathan, Allie Wiebe; Brian (Carly), Brittany Corrigal and Brent Corrigal. Mom was born on June 5, 1925 in Winnipeg. She grew up in Blackdale and Balmoral. She graduated Normal School in 1944 and began her teaching career. She taught at schools in Lowe Farm, Greenwood and East Rosser. While teaching at East Rosser she met and married Bill in 1948 and they began their life on the farm and raised three children. They enjoyed travelling and visiting with neighbours every weekend. Mom became an active member in the Rosser community where she assumed leadership roles in the Rosser United Church, Sunday School, the U.C.W. and the 4-H Club. She became a member of the Rosser W.I. and later Mt. Lildon W.I. Mom loved to entertain and her door was always open to family and friends where she provided a warm, welcoming and fun atmosphere. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, sewing, crafts and reading. She wrote faithfully in her journal everyday. Her great-granddaughter Kira was the light of her life. She missed her dog Lucky when she moved into Betel. Mom made sure every occassion of our lives was celebrated. She was respected, deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Mom spent her last year residing at the Betel Home in Selkirk and her family are forever grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to her there by all the staff. Special thanks to the Selkirk General Hospital staff and Dr. Demsas for the kindness and care she received in her last few days. Thanks to Dr. Pinnger and the staff at the Stonewall District Hospital for the care and compassion Mom previously received. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The interment will take place following the reception. Honorary pallbearers are George Minaker, Bill Blair, Bert Comrie, George McConnell, Doug Laing, Gary Minaker, Glen Riddell, Dale Riddell. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Rosser United Church, Rosser, MB R0H 1E0 or the charity of their choice.
