Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS HRECHKOSY In sadness we announce the passing of our dad, Nick Hrechkosy, on February 1, 2007, 4:30 a.m. at the Oakview Nursing Home. He was 81 years old. Nick was predeceased by his wife Marie (nee Letwin) in 1997; his parents, Mykhaylo Danylovych and Anastasia Ivanivna Hrechkosiy; his brothers, Pavlo and Vasyl. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, June Letwin, Richard Letwin, Paul Letwin and nephews, Allan Letwin and Dale Holmes. Nick is survived by his daughter Caroline Hrechkosy and son Kevin Hrechkosy (Monica Schmidtke), and his sister Anna living in the Ukraine. He is also survived by his in-laws, Rose Letwin, Winnie (Larry) Baker, Audrey Letwin, Helen (Jerry) Palka, Lawrence (Betty) Letwin, Clarence (Marcella) Letwin, and numerous nephews and nieces. Nick was born on April 22, 1925 in the Novosyjsk Berezhany region of Ternopil Oblast in the Western Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1952 and resided in Winnipeg until his demise. Nick was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway as a carman and a storeman in the Weston Shops for 26 years. He previously was a member of the Ukrainian Canadian Institute Prosirtu; SUM League of Liberation of Ukraine; the Ukrainian National Air Association of Canada and U.S.A.; and Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. We'd like to thank the third floor of Oakview Extendicare Nursing Home for the excellent care he received from the many people there who made his stay like being at home: Joan, Nadine, Valerie, Eunice, Corrine, Stasha, Dawn, Kendra, Michelle, Dr. Griggs and to everyone of you who came into contact with dad and made his days good days. Dad loved the attention he got from everyone of you there. You are very special people. We'd also like to thank the Grace Hospital for attending to his brief stay there. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A gathering of family and friends to follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation with respect to Nick may be made to an organization of your choice.
