She was predeceased by her parents, John A. and Lillian (nee Bull) Flanders and sisters, Mary Elizabeth Flanders and Sydney Jansen. Mom was born in East St. Paul, MB, and raised in Winnipeg where she also raised her family. She moved to Victoria, BC in 1971 where she lived until her death. She was a wonderful cook and was always willing to step in and be helpful in times of need for her family. She was an avid golfer for as long as her family can remember and delighted in golfing with her children and grandchildren. She and Jack were members of Pine Ridge Golf Club and St. Charles Golf and Country Club for many years. In Victoria, Mom was a member of Royal Colwood Golf Club until she was no longer able to golf. After living on Dallas Road for over 25 years, she moved to Sidney to live with her sister Ruth on Ardmore Drive. In 2000 she became a resident at the Saanich Peninsula Extended Care facility where she lived for six years. In August 2006 she moved to Luther Court in Victoria to be closer to her family. Our family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Saanich Penninsula who were like family to her. Also, we thank the staff and doctors at Luther Court for their care of her, albeit only for a short time. A celebration of Nan's life will take place on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Luther Court, 1525 Cedar Hill Cross Rd., Victoria, BC with Pastor Karen Johnson-Lefsrud leading the service. According to Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place at a later date. First Memorial Funeral Services is thanked for their help. At Mom's request, rather than flowers, her family would appreciate donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, Western Canada Regional Office, 7th Floor, 1401 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6H 1H6 in her memory, or a charity of one's choice. We love you, Mom and Grandma, and are happy for you that you are now at rest.
