ANNA SIGURDSON Peacefully on February 1, 2007, Anna passed away at the Gimli Community Health Centre at the age of 98 years with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Sigurdur (Siggi); her daughter Evelyn Claire; son-in-law Tommy and great-grandson Thor Sigmar. Anna is survived by her children, Bill (Marion), Margaret (Wesley), Inga (Alfred), Lorraine, Lillian (Eddie), Ronald (Marie) and David (Linda); her grandchildren, Lucille (Greg), Brian (Brenda), Randall (Shirley), Lorne (Maureen), Dwayne (Joan), Kerry (Andrea), Tannis, Jerry (Charlene), Kendall (Daurelle), Shelly (Simon), Stefan, Darren, Sheralyn and Kevin; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Craig, Kevin, Michael, Kristjan, Holly, Marisa, Soren, Mathias, Layla, Maya, Kylie and Lexi; sisters, Rosie, Eileen; brother Paul and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna lived in Arnes until 1979. She farmed with her children for 21 years. She worked diligently attending her garden and her animals. Her husband was a commercial fisherman and drowned in Lake Winnipeg, leaving Anna to raise the family and operate the farm on her own. She loved to garden, sew and travel. She loved music, dancing and singing, in her younger years she was a drummer in a band. Anna loved entertaining friends and family in her home. She especially enjoyed serving her coffee and vinertarta as her door was always open to all. Anna was a member of the Arnes Ladies Aid, Arnes Lutheran Church and later the Gimli Lutheran Church. She donated her time and baking to many community events. In her later years, she enjoyed her visits to the family homestead. Her grandchildren will always remember her for her beautiful quilts and embroidery work. Her daughter Inga and son-in-law Alfred were her care givers for almost two years which extended her quality of life by providing her with excellent loving care. Funeral services will be held in Gimli Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 6 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Interment to follow at the Arnes Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be grandsons, Lorne Haas, Brian Thompson, Kerry Skibinski, Jerry Wowchuk, Stefan Sigurdson and Darren Sigurdson. The rest of the grandchildren will be her honorary pallbearers. Thanks to the special nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and the Gimli Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Arnes Cemetery. Goodbye my family My life has passed I loved you all to the very last Weep not for me, but courage take, Love for each other for my sake.
