Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN FRANKLIN WEBER 1913 - 2007 John Weber passed from this world at the age of 94 on January 31, 2007 at the Victoria Hospital. John was predeceased by his sister, Eileen and brothers, Norman and Alson. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife Elinore; sons, Bob and Bill; daughters-in-law, Norma and Karen and his three grandchildren, Steven, Larissa and David, of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his nephews, John, Jim and Ross, of Waterloo and their families and his nieces, Joan and Kathy of Calgary and their families. John worked for Mutual Life of Canada before heeding the call of his country in the Second World War joining the R.C.A.F. at the outbreak of the War. He rose to the rank of Squadron Leader and was responsible for the training of Allied pilots at Trenton and in England during the Battle of Britain. He met his wife Elinore in the Air Force and they wed in 1943. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked as Office Manager and Supervisor of Group Sales for the Mutual Life where he worked until his retirement in 1978. John was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and had many passions in this life, the greatest of which was music. He followed this dream as a young man playing the trumpet in bands in Ontario. Living in Manitoba, John was a member of the Fort Garry United Church Choir for over half a century and was an ardent singer in Barbershop quartets being a lifetime member of the S.P.E.B.Q.S.A. John's other passion was golf which he played, like many of us, with varying degrees of proficiency. John was a longtime member of the Wildewood Club where he spent endless hours, from March to November enjoying the fresh air, sunshine and companionship of good friends and family. John will be remembered by all he met as a kind and considerate man and we all mourn his passing. A service commemorating his life will be held at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
