MURRAY NEIL MCCOLL 1913 2007 Neil McColl passed away, January 27, 2007, at the age of 89 years, at the High River Hospital, High River, AB. Neil was born in Collholme, AB, September 30, 1917. Neil started his 47 year career with Macleods in Stettler, AB. In 1941, Neil joined the Kings Own Calgary Regiment Calgary Tanks (First Canadian Amoured Brigade). Neil proudly served his country in the following Theatres of Service Britain, Central Mediterranean and Northwest Europe as a Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant. Neil was very proud to receive a Commander in Chief's Certificate from Field Marshall Bernard L. Montgomery one of three awarded to the Calgary Tank Brigade. In 1995, Neil was awarded a medal from the Dutch Government which he wore with great pride. Prior to going overseas, Neil married Jeanne Spiece of Stettler, AB. Upon his return home, Neil resumed his career with Macleods as store manager in Edmonton, AB. In 1951, Neil was transferred to Winnipeg as Warehouse Manager. With the takeover by Gamble Skogmo, Neil was promoted to the Executive Committee as Manager of Distribution and Warehousing for Gambles of Canada-Macleod-Stedman. Neil and Rita retired to his beloved cottage at Caddy Lake, MB for a short time, before purchasing a motor home and traveling between Canada and Texas, eventually moving permanently back to God's Country , as he lovingly referred to Alberta. Neil was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne; his mother Pearl; father Meredith; stepmother May; sisters, Aldean Hawkey and Grace Kellaway; brothers, Meredith (killed in the Second World War), Gordon, Kenneth and twins, Ronald and Donald; sisters-in-law, Esther McColl, Marg McColl, and brothers-in-law, Jim Doherty, Morris Hawkey, Laurie Kellaway and Harold King. Neil is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years, Rita (Schuman-Ives) McColl, his daughter Norma Jane (Michael) Foran; granddaughters, Kelly Chapman and Teresa Chapman (Murray) Wheeler; Rita's daughters, Heather (Gil) Rekken, Melva Lyons and Shirley (Rick) Zielinski along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael (Trina), Cassandra and Joseph Rekken; Shawn (Cindy Ens) Rekken; Jamie Lyons; Jackie and Summer Lyons; Jennifer (John Paquette), Megan and Aiden; Jeffrey Lyons; Bradley Welbers; Paul Douglas Cechvala; Carla (Jeremy), Daniel and Anthony Ostapyk. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Pearl King, Shirley Doherty, Douglas (Ollie) McColl, Keith (Jean) McColl, Beverly (John) Young, Sharlene (Mel) Wyness, Allan (Lorraine) Schuman, Wayne (Nancy) Schuman, and by numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Neil . Neil will be sadly missed by his entire family. We will all remember how he made everyone of us feel so special and how he touched each of our lives. At Neil's request no funeral services will be held.
