MILTON HORTA With sadness and heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden unexpected passing of Milton (Miroslav) Horta on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 81 years. Milton was predeceased by his wife (Helen), infant son (Robert), mother (Maria) and father (Ferdinand), brothers, (Joseph and Vladimir) and son-in-law (Jim). Milton was born on March 18, 1925 in Poland, second son to Maria and Ferdinand Horta. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Minitonas, Manitoba with his young family. He spent his summers as a carpenter and in the winters he cleared his land and cut pulpwood. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1964 where Milton started working with Sargent Construction and later for Lakeview Developments where he became construction superintendent on many large, multi-family projects and warehousing units until his retirement. Hard working, love and dedication to his family, gentle, generous, integrity, honesty and a great sense of humour (with the ability to mess up a joke) describe our dad the best. Some of the happiest moments in his life were times spent with his family, travelling, gardening and calling coast to coast reporting on the weather. He also had a great love for all animals. Milton is survived by his longtime companion Betty; brother Bob; daughters, Mary, Edie (Glen); son Walter (Karen); grandchildren, Kim, Shannon (Shawn), Michael, Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Jayme, Karlie, Nicole, Curtis and Analiese, as well as many friends and extended family. The family would like to thank Dr. Hechtenthal for all his care and concern; and also to the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Dad you will be in our hearts forever, we love you and we miss you terribly. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
