JOYCE ELAINE MILLER It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Joyce Miller on Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre. Joyce was born on April 6, 1960 in St. Claude, Manitoba and was the fifth child of Tom and Loreen Miller. Joyce was raised in Elm Creek, attended school in Elm Creek and Carman before moving to Winkler. For the last 29 years Joyce was employed at Gateway Resources. Joyce was truly a unique individual always keeping tabs on her brothers and sisters and their families. Joyce enjoyed camping, playing cards and puzzles. She took great pride in her collection of stuffed animals. In 1994 Joyce won the Gold Medal in the 440 meter race at the Canadian National Special Olympics Summer Games held in Halifax. GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!!! Left to cherish Joyce's memory are her father Tom, her two sisters, Ann (Bob), Helen (Rod), her three brothers, Glenn (Alice), George (Mona), Brian (Kim) and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by foster parents, John and Mary Heide and their families. Joyce was predeceased by her mother Loreen and her grandmother Jessie Cochran. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Andrews United church in Elm Creek, with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce's memory to the Special Olympics Manitoba Inc., or to the Fun Raisers, Box 44, Elm Creek, MB.
