ELIZABETH TURNER MACEWAN July 16, 1926 - February 3, 2007 Elizabeth Turner MacEwan (nee Turner Bone) passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas MacEwan; her brother John Turner-Bone; her children, Joanne (Dennis Conrad), Elspeth (Maureen Kellerman), Eleanor (Gordon Wiebe) and James (Gwen Allison), and her eight grandchildren, Laura, Grace, Michael, Rachel, Alison, Jack, Stephen and Sarah, who will all greatly miss her love and enthusiasm. She is predeceased by her sister Margaret Turner Watt. Elizabeth was born in Ottawa and raised in Montreal. She was married to Douglas on June 23, 1951. After retiring as a kindergarten teacher and raising her children, Elizabeth dedicated countless hours to her community. She served the Council of Women of Winnipeg, Provincial Council of Women of Manitoba and The National Council of Women of Canada (Vice President), as well as The Girl Guides of Canada, McGill Graduates Society - Manitoba Branch and the Y.W.C.A. Other interests included Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Laurentian Lodge Ski Club, Zig Zag Yacht Club, Winnipeg Winter Club, and Worship Committee of Westworth United Church. Her husband's radiology career prospered with her enduring support. With Douglas, Elizabeth enjoyed gardening and supporting Manitoba's performing arts. Elizabeth coped well with severe memory loss for a decade. The family thanks Dr. Paul Shelton and his Memory Disorder team for their outstanding and compassionate care. There will be a Memorial Service at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue on Friday, February 9 at 12:30 p.m. In the spring, a second service will be held at the MacEwan family plot, Martintown, Ontario. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet MacEwan Scholarship Fund. One of her friends remarked...When you saw Elizabeth you saw Douglas and when you saw Douglas, Elizabeth was at his side.
