DOROTHY KRUGER Peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2007, Dorothy Kruger passed away at Deer Lodge Centre with her family by her side. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband Keith; daughter Lori (Wayne) Yarchuk and beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Colin and Kathryn; sister Perla Williams; brother and sister-in-law Clarke and Grace Pidgeon and her nephews, Ted, Ken and Don Pidgeon and their families. She was predeceased by her infant son in 1963. Dorothy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood years in Camrose, Alberta before moving with her family to Ontario. She started her nursing career at the Civic Hospital in Peterborough and nursed, as well as taught nursing, in hospitals in Toronto, Niagara Falls, Kingston and Thunder Bay before moving to Manitoba in 1955. While nursing at the Pine Falls Hospital, Dorothy met Keith and they were married in 1957. In the 45 years they lived together in Pine Falls Dorothy was very active in the community and enjoyed many recreational pursuits, particularly golfing and cross-country skiing. In her later years, Dorothy's greatest joy came from spending time with her three grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nursing staff on 5W at Deer Lodge Hospital where Dorothy spent her final year. The compassion, kindness and exceptional care they provided helped to lighten the burden of illness for both Dorothy and her family. Her strength of will and tremendous courage throughout this time was remarkable, but it was in keeping with the way she'd lived and embraced her life. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Meadowood United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Chapter of the ALS Society. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
