MARY EDWARDS It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Edwards (nee Giesbrecht) unexpectedly and peacefully at 86 years of age. Left to mourn her passing are sisters, Helen, Susan and Tina; children, Jim (Gail), Richard (Sherry) and grandchildren, Megan, Jonathan and Matthew Edwards. She was predeceased by parents, Heinrich H. and Helena Peters Giesbrech; husband Walter Edwards, and brothers and sisters, Isaac, John, Sara, Abram, Ben, and half brothers and sisters, Henry, Agnes, Peter, Frank, Jacob, Cornelius, and Elizabeth. Mary was born January 8, 1921 in Neuhoffnung Village, Manitoba and grew up at the farm in Southern Manitoba. She married Walter Edwards in British Columbia, and returned to Altona after his untimely death in 1955. She boldly moved to Winnipeg in 1965 to enable her children to have the best in future opportunities. Mary sincerely enjoyed her work with Dr. and Mrs. Rosenberg. She was a very important part of the lives of her children and her three grandchildren and touched their lives deeply with her loving devotion to her family in every way possible. She believed in child centered play, was well-read, intelligent, deeply religious, and contemporary in her life. Tireless and energetic, she made order out of chaos. Mary was a kind, caring, and thoughtful person who always put other people first and led by commitment and example. She was everything to her family and treasured visits and phone calls from her sisters, brothers and other relatives. In later years, she enjoyed meeting close friends downtown for shopping and coffee, having spirited conversations about politics or spending Friday nights celebrating life and the activities of the week with family at nearby restaurants. Mary will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. She is now in the arms of her Lord. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in St. Vital Cemetery. Arrangements in care of: KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 www.klassenfuneralhome.com
