Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE THERESE MEILLEUR (nee LeTEXIER) Surrounded by family, our dear mother, Marie Thérèse Meilleur passed away peacefully, on February 4, 2007 at the Foyer Valade. Thérèse was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; daughter Leona Rouire (Bob); and brothers, Albert and Lucien. She will be missed by her children, Roland, Bertrand (Diane), Emmanuel (Carol), Angèle DeGagné (Alcide), Claude (Cathy), Edmond (Teresa), Diane MacFarlane (Bruce), Remi, Rita Brown and Dollard (Heather), 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Thérèse was born in 1918 at Notre Dame de Lourdes, and with her parents, Julien and Clemence LeTexier, pioneered in Fisher Branch, MB. In 1939, she married Ernest Meilleur and together they raised 11 children on a farm in Fisher Branch. In 1967, Thérèse and Ernest moved to St. Vital where they enjoyed the freedom of travelling, fishing, camping and a more relaxed life. Their most memorable trip was a European holiday where they reunited with relatives in France. Thérèse spent many years volunteering for the Catholic Women's League at St. Eugene Church and the Festival du Voyageur. She belonged to the Emma Club at the Knights of Columbus Villa, organizing card or bingo events including food and refreshments. Thérèse loved to bake and was known for her dainties. She always had a variety available for any visitor or family function. For many years she baked and helped organize the annual bake sale fundraiser at the Villa. Mother was a passionate supporter of the Festival, encouraging the family to bring the grandchildren to enjoy our heritage and culture. Fond memories of a lifestyle of long ago were rekindled, especially old time fiddling, dancing and traditional music. Her greatest joy was her family. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or a grandchild at Christmas. Her grandchildren looked forward to knitted afghans, slippers, dolls or baked treats. She enjoyed gardening and always had the nicest garden and flowers. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 8 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1007 St. Mary's Rd. Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thérèse's name to the St. Eugene Catholic Church. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements 233-4949, toll free 1-888-233-4949.
