Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYDIA BURTNIAK Lydia died peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, with her family by her side. Left to mourn is her husband of 60 years Mathew; son Don and wife Audrey; daughter Judy and Len; son Bob and wife Shelley; grandsons, Dax, Reiss, and Michael. Mom was born in the Ukraine on January 24, 1927 and came to Canada when she was three years old. Predeceased by her parents, Phillip (1986) and Molly (1987) and brother John (1998). Mom and Dad were married on November 28, 1946 in Calgary. They moved to Stony Mountain in 1952, where Mom was involved in curling and the community. She was made a life member of Stony Mountain Curling Club. She loved watching her grandsons play hockey and was their biggest fan. Mom loved going to the cottage to fish and to pick blueberries. Mom also bowled twice a week and enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, knitting and crocheting. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, 433 Main Street, Stonewall. Rev. Marilyn Anderson-Corkum will officiate. The service will conclude at the chapel. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff on the 4th floor Unit 7 and the 3rd floor Unit 7 at the Seven Oaks Hospital for the great care they gave to Mom. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Stony Mountain United Church, Stony Mountain, MB R0C 3A0 or the the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
