EVELYN RUBY HUBKA 1914 - 2007 Evelyn Ruby Hubka (nee Bostik) passed away peacefully at the Southwood Care Centre, Calgary, on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her sons, Larry (Diane) and grandchildren, Alicia and Tara, all of Calgary, Alberta and Alan (Lorna) of Wawanesa, Manitoba and grandchildren, Jennifer and Tammy, as well as the many friends and relatives she touched throughout her life. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Lawrence (1983), and her six siblings. Evelyn was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska on September 3, 1914, graduating from Lewiston High School. Evelyn married Lawrence in 1935, moving to Virginia, Nebraska where they operated a service station, small store and served as an agent for a local dairy until moving to Canada in 1938, settling within the community of Meadows, Manitoba, where they farmed till retirement in 1975. Evelyn remained on the farm at Meadows until the mid 1990s, keeping herself active with friends, relatives and various community activities. When Evelyn was no longer able to remain on the farm she moved to Calgary to be nearer her grandchildren, but she always called Meadows home. Funeral Services will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow. Sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers at Southwood Care Centre, Willow Park Unit in Calgary and to Dr. D. Eliason for the kindness and care shown towards Evelyn.
