EDWARD (EDDIE) CARL CRAIG September 5, 1922 - February 5, 2007 Peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, February 5, Ed passed away at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 84. Ed was predeceased by his mother Rosie and father James. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Margaret, his partner of 60 years. He will also be sadly missed by his children, Donna (Tony) Chuback; his son Rick (Pam) Craig and daughter Debra (Joel) Feuer as well as his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Ashleigh (Isaac), Morgan and Kirby. Ed is also survived by his brother Jack (Jessie); sisters, Violet and Phyllis (Tony), numerous nephews, nieces and family friends. Ed was a hard working man who led a simple life. He was born near East Selkirk and was raised on the family farm. He often told stories about his farm life and through these stories we learned about rural Manitoba life, resourcefulness and perseverance. Throughout his long, working career he seldom missed a day due to illness. Ironically, the past two weeks were the first hospital stay of his life. He gave of himself in a quiet, unassuming way and he did not seek attention for the help that he offered to others. His twinkling eyes and his playful, child-like smile were his trademark. Even in his last days these traits were enjoyed by the nurses and aids who attentively cared for him. Many thanks go to the caring doctors, nurses and aids at Victoria Hospital who lovingly cared for Ed and his family. This obviously is their calling. Special thanks to Dr. Ray Singer who was dad's family physician for many years. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rod Sprange presiding. Interment to follow. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Victor and Andy Hrushka, Bob, Doug and Jim Hughes and Michael Szwaluk. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Lerch his coffee buddy, as well as Carol and Bill Magalas lifelong friends of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Barnabas Anglican Church where dad was a longtime parishioner, Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated. Being outdoors gave Ed solace. Taking a moment to enjoy nature would be a fitting tribute to him. Funeral arrangements in care of: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
