MARIA (MARY) H. T. CLARK Peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Mary Clark, widow of the late Lyall Clark, beloved mother of Sharon and Garry, passed away. Mary was born on June 30, 1921 in Baldur Manitoba, daughter of Gudbjorg and Thorstein Myrdal. She lived in Glenboro until the age of six, then on a farm north of Baldur. She attended Hola School and Baldur High School. While attending high school she was very active in sports, excelling at softball and participating in high jump at track and field events. Mary married Lyall Clark on May 24, 1941. They lived in St. Thomas, Ontario and Winnipeg while Lyall was in the Air Force. Mary, Lyall and their children moved to Baldur in 1945 where they farmed until moving to Portage la Prairie in 1957. Her husband Lyall, her parents, brothers, Mundi and Stony Myrdal; sister Bud Oliver; sons-in-law, Leonard Matte and Paul Gladstone, predeceased Mary. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Matte of Winnipeg; son Garry (Margaret) of Portage; two granddaughters, Mary-Anne Clark (Jack Meseyton) of Winnipeg and Jo-Anne (Brent) Gillespie of Portage; and three precious great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Kathleen Marks and Owen Gillespie. Also surviving are her sisters, Gertie Gray (Jack) of Winnipeg and Emily Johnson of Saskatoon; sisters-in-law, Elva (Ralph) Coyston and Ila (George) Ward of Penticton, B.C. along with many nieces and nephews. Mary had a great sense of humour, enjoyed the 16th street parties and her coffee afternoons at the Co-Op, but her greatest love was her family. She took great interest in what her grandchildren were involved in, attending all of Mary-Anne's band concerts, Brownie and Guide functions and traveling all over Manitoba to watch Jo-Anne play ringette or softball, then later attending Stephanie's and Kathleen's concerts and plays. Funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 9, 2007, 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jean Bryden officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24 9th St. SE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4. Goodbye my family My life has passed I loved you to the very last Weep not for me, but courage take, Love for each other for my sake For those you love don't go away They will walk beside you every day. Until we met again. GODA NOTT A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Mary by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
