NANCY (AGNES) STEWART BALLENDINE It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Nancy Ballendine after a lengthy illness on February 4, 2007. She was born in Carman, MB on May 21, 1921. She graduated from Grade 12 in Carman and obtained a Degree in Music (piano) from the University of Toronto. She graduated in 1944 as a Registered Nurse from Brandon General Hospital. She was married on November 6, 1947 to her loving husband Al whom she met while working at Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital. She spent many years of her life nursing and was also a pianist at a Children's Ballet School. She volunteered for several years as a Girl Guide Leader with her great friend Marion Scutter. Our Nancy was a loving Wife and very devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Harry Wilson; brothers, Alex (Edith) and Charlie Wilson. She is survived by her husband Al; her daughters, Nancy (Don) Toyne and Barbara (Ken) Howie; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachael) Toyne of Toronto, Brett (Jacqueline) Toyne, Brad (Angela) Howie of Quesnel, BC, Amy Howie; great-grandchildren, Devon and new baby Toyne, who is arriving in March, and Ava Howie. Chosen granddaughter Vickie Klassen and her chosen great-grandchildren, Keaton, Alex and Brady; sister-in-law Olive Wilson and dear friend Judy Defer and several nieces, nephews and their families. Nana, we all love you so very, very much. We will always miss you and will miss all the special things you did for each one of us, especially your shortbread that we never learned to make. We will treasure the memories you have given us. You are our guardian angel now. Be at peace. At Nana's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. The family will gather together for a celebration of Nana's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1 or a charity of your choice.
