MARGOT JOAN ROSS (nee ELLACOTT) On February 7, 2007 at Grace Hospital, Margot Joan Ross, aged 83 years, beloved and loving mother of Gray Ross (Eva) of Edmonton, John Ross of Toronto and Betsy Ross of Winnipeg, passed away. Joan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Ruth Ellacott of Cornwall, England and longtime friends, Doris and Rodney Pearson. Joan was born September 7, 1923 in Lethbridge, AB, the only daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy Ellacott. Joan was raised and educated in Winnipeg. A graduate of Gordon Bell High School and United College (BA '44), Joan went on to obtain her Certificate of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. Following her early career as a social worker, Joan was a full-time mother to her children. Over the years Joan volunteered on the boards of the Children's Home, the YWCA and the Family Bureau where she also served as a board member and President of the Day Nursery Centre. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital for all their care and compassion during Mom's stay. A special thanks also to Marnie of Home Care. At her request, cremation will take place. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, on Friday, February 9. A reception will follow at Thomson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Joan Ellacott Ross Bursary, in care of The University of Winnipeg Foundation Inc., 705 - 491 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2E4 or a charity of your choice.
