EDWARD MALKOSKE December 16, 1913 - February 7, 2007 In his 93rd year, Dad passed peacefully away on February 7, 2007 at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home. Eddie leaves behind his eternally loved wife Ruth, with whom he shared a wonderful 69 year marriage. He is survived by the kids, Judy Cowell, Brenda (George) Pluchinski, Russell (Sherril) Malkoske, and Lois (Rick Schultz); the grandkids are Kevin Cowell, Melanie (Lynn) Fraser, Jeff (Melinda) Pluchinski, Jody (Roy) McMullen, Joel (Kathy) Malkoske, Kyle (Tanya) Malkoske, Travis (Tanis) Malkoske, Cory (Erin) Malkoske, Lisa (Roger) Hristovski and Karla Schultz. Grampa also has seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Gustav and Augusta Malkoske; sisters, Alvina and Ottelia; brothers, Walter, Alex and George; son-in-law Don Cowell, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was born in Oldenberg, Manitoba in 1913. He contracted Polio in 1915 which left him with his distinctive gait. His schooling started in Oldenberg then continued in Chicago, after the family relocated in 1922. He completed business college there in 1931 before moving back to Whitemouth. In 1935 he took barbering in Winnipeg and became Whitemouth's Eddie the Barber . In 1937 he had the luckiest day of my life when he married Ruth Herntier. His career had many paths including barbering, pool hall owner, books for Whitemouth Transfer, insurance agent and Secretary Treasurer of the Whitemouth Hospital for 32 years. Dad retired in his 70s and continued his pastimes of reading, TV, traveling, golf, Ophir Masonic Lodge and letting Mom look after him. In the fall of 2004 he moved into Whitemouth Personal Care Home but continued to enjoy many outings. No one enjoyed a good time better than Dad, especially his 93rd birthday celebration last December. Dad's long and wonderful life was the result of doing whatever he could as best as he could, not worrying about things he couldn't do anything about and the unwavering love and support he's always received from Mom. The family also thanks the Whitemouth Personal Care Home staff for the wonderful care they gave Dad and their support to us. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel on Park Avenue East in Beausejour with Pastor George Johnson officiating. The grandsons are the honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Variety, The Children's Charity of Manitoba or a charity of your choice in his memory.
