Ernest is survived and deeply missed by his beloved wife of 39 years, Elaine; sons, Mark (Laura) of Steinbach, Marty of Selkirk and Paul (Marina) of St. Vital; his beloved grandchildren, Andrea, Michael, Chantelle, Darien, MaKenzie Rea and Kai; sisters, Alma Morrissette of Winnipeg, Bertha (Martin) O'Neal of Portage; brothers, Alphonse (Rachel) of Estevan, SK, George (Rita) of Starbuck; sister-in-law Joyce of St. Claude, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ernie goes to join his parents, Blanche and Uldric Lavoie; sisters, Marie Lagasse, Irene Gervais and Amanda Grant; brothers, Roland, Alfred, Armand and Maurice. His much loved friend Swickers is also waiting for him. Born in Bai St. Paul, he grew up in the St. Eustache and Poplar Point areas. Many old folks will remember him as Cinqsou as well as his good nature and quick smiles, his love of hockey and hunting. Ernie worked for more than 40 years on construction, starting with Nelson River and then the last 33 years with Mulder Bros. Retiring in 1996, he kept many fond memories of the many construction jobs he worked on in Manitoba and Ontario and the people he worked with. A long time resident of Cartier, family, friends and neighbours will remember his big, beautiful gardens and his delight in sharing his produce with others. We will always remember the hardworking, generous, simple man. Thank you for the good memories and happy times. A memorial service will be held at the St. Francois Xavier Catholic Church on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Central Plains CancerCare - Portage La Prairie, MB. Their help during Ernie's battle with cancer is really appreciated. Arrangements by: Birchwood Funeral Chapel 1-888-454-1030 or 1-204-346-1030
