ALICE GERTRUDE BALLANTINE July 19, 1911 - February 6, 2007 With deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Alice at Prairie View Lodge in Pilot Mound. Alice was born in Holland, MB, attended school at Camille and Holland then continued on to get her teaching certificate. While teaching at Marringhurst School, she met Earl Robinson whom she married November 8, 1941. They had two children, Margery (deceased at infancy) and Bill. The Robinson family farmed at Glenora District, Holland and then for many years at Glenboro. Earl passed away in 1968. Through the years, Alice continued her career as a teacher. She was most proud of her role as an educator and some of her fondest memories are of her pupils. On July 7, 1973 she married a long time family friend, Ralph Ballantine. They enjoyed over 20 trips to Arizona for the winter and spent sunny afternoons tending to the flowers at Marringhurst Pioneer Park. They always looked forward to Friday dinner at Glenora. Alice was a member of The Eastern Star with her dear friend, Evelyn Jones. Alice was predeceased by her first husband Earl, husband Ralph, her daughter Margery and many siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her son Bill (Maureen) Robinson (Mission, BC); granddaughter Tracy (Abbotsford, BC); her Ballantine step-children, Murray (Clara); grandsons, Ian and Jamie (Ottawa, ON), Vicki (Guelph, ON), Grant (La Broquerie) and Ross (Cathy) and family (St. Pierre Jolys); and her assumed grandchildren and great-grand-children, Don (Betty, Ben and Emily) Orr (Poland), Bob (Candace, Weston) Orr (Abbotsford, BC), Marc (Geraldine, Revee and Patrick, Brayden) Orr (Guelph, ON), Monique (Darryl, Alyssa and David) Schmidt (Olds, AB), Michelle (Jay, Keira, Jarred and Dustin) Whitham (Mission, BC); siblings and extended family, as well as generations of past students. Pallbearers, Jim Down, Les Ferris, Larry Rutherford, Gordon Jones, Derek Van Damme, and Michael Van Damme. Funeral Service to be held Monday, February 12, at 1:00 p.m. at Pilot Mound United Church. Internment at Glenboro cemetery. Lunch to follow at Glenora Hall. Special thanks to the staff at Prairie View Lodge, Doris Kynoch, Reverend Irene Onuch, and Graham's Funeral Service. Donations in lieu of flowers to Alzheimer's Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Till roses lose their petals, Till the heather has lost its dew, Till the end of time, dear Mother, We will remember you
