Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBEATRICE (BEA) BIGNEY (nee DOWN) It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bea Bigney, who passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007 at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 96. The world is missing an angel. Mom was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, August 13, 1910. She married her love of 59 years, William (Bill) Bigney, in 1938 in Dauphin, Manitoba. They made their home in Melville, Saskatchewan until 1953, when they moved their young family to Winnipeg, Manitoba. A homemaker all of her married life, mom devoted all her time to her family and friends. She loved to knit, read and share her plants. Her quiet, gentle nature and unconditional love were an inspiration to everyone she touched. She enjoyed a simple life surrounded by her family. Mom never complained and kept her dignity and composure even through her final moments. Her great-grandchildren lovingly referred to her as Grama Popcorn , a name they gave her because of the tradition she created. Surviving her beloved husband, Bill, for nine and one-half years, she lived alone and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the River Gardens 2 Club. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Arlene and husband Tom (Dorsett) and her son Don Bigney of Vancouver, BC, 3 grandchildren Donna (Jim), Debra (Gerry), Dave (Lisa) and five great-grandchildren Stefani, Ryan, T.J., Payton and Jayme, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1997; her sisters, Verna Pope, Winifred Cutting, and brothers, Gordon Down, Douglas Down, and Harold Down. On mom's behalf, special appreciation and gratitude is extended to all the hospital staff of 4B at St. Boniface Hospital, especially Baya and Ted, also her Home Care girls, and her friend Tina, for their dedication and care. Following mom's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service was held. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
