Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND FRANCOIS FOUBERT Peacefully in his sleep, Raymond Francois Foubert passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Ray is survived by his wife and soul mate of over 62 years of marriage, Elvy. Dad is also survived by son Randall (Marie); daughter Alison (Bob); grandsons, Vincent (Jaimie), Roger (Brandie) and Curtis (Tanya) and granddaughter Renee. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren Jayden, Jaxsen and Kyarra. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Zeb and Josephine; brothers, Lawrence, Paul, James and Richard and sisters, Marie, Lucille and Marjorie. Raymond was born on October 4, 1917. Dad had a long, interesting and diversified life. His early years were spent helping on the farm in the Carman area. Ray served for over four years in the Air Force in The Second World War and was awarded with the voluntary service medals. A few years later his working career started with Manitoba Natural Resources where he went on to become a park officer and retired after a 27 year career. Dad was talented in many ways which included being a skilled carpenter and craftsman, an accomplished self taught banjo and violin player, a fine dancer, excellent wine maker, active baseball and horseshoe player, he loved fishing, smoked delicious gold eye and in his later years, he was an avid Blue Jay fan. Curling was his passion in sports. An eight ender in Elm Creek highlighted his curling career. After his disability, he continued keen interests in the game by attending several Briers and watching whatever he could on TV until his last days. Dad was very active in the community. He was twice president of Lac du Bonnet Legion, Br. 164, president of the Lac du Bonnet Curling Club and president of the Lac du Bonnet Lions Club. He was awarded with a lifetime membership by the local legion and curling club. Family and close friends were always important to Ray. He always enjoyed any events or socials involving family or friends. In respect of that, a private family service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with Rev. Canon J.W. Whitford officiating. Cremation has taken place and interment is planned for a later date.
