BRENDA GAIL BOCH Peacefully on February 7, 2007, at the age of 58, Brenda Gail Boch passed away after a courageous and brief battle with cancer at St. Boniface Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Wayne; son Darren (Kathleen); and daughter Kerri Reitmeier (Brett). Baba will be greatly missed by her three grandchildren, Marlon, Kamryn, and Dawson, whom she considered her pride and joy. She will also be lovingly remembered by her parents, Bud and Lil Currie; sisters, Lana (Monte), Wanda (Florent), Darlene (Cliff); and her brother Dean (Dawna); mother-in-law Mary Boch; brothers-in-law, Dave (Audrey), Ralph (Sharon); special cousin Marcia (Murray); along with numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Brenda leaves so many close and special friends, too numerous to mention. Brenda was born and raised in the town of Killarney, MB. The special memories that she had of Killarney were always held near and dear to her heart. She left Killarney and headed to Selkirk to take her nurses training. Nursing was her calling from the time she was a little girl. She loved her career; her greatest gift was her ability to nurture and care for others. Brenda's entire nursing career was spent at the Selkirk General Hospital until her retirement three and a half years ago. She loved all aspects of nursing, but found her niche was definitely working with both patients and families in palliative care. It was a young nursing student that Brenda met her best friend, soul mate and the love of her life, Wayne. Brenda and Wayne got married on July 19, 1969, and lived in Selkirk for a brief period of time before building a home in St. Andrews. It was here that they raised their children and became actively involved in the community. She spent countless hours at both Darren and Kerri's sporting events, field trips and everyday activities. Brenda had a very special bond with both of her children and felt very fortunate that they remained in St. Andrews, allowing her to become an integral part of her grandchildren's lives. Other passions included spending time with friends, camping, gardening, cooking, reading and arts and crafts. Some of Brenda's fondest memories were doing the simple things in life, such as sitting around a bonfire, going for walks with her husband and preparing Sunday evening dinners for her family. Christmas was an especially important time of year for Brenda. Her face beamed with joy when she was able to make others happy. Brenda, your belief in angels gives us the faith to believe that you will continue to watch over us with your special smile and everlasting love. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses who cared for Brenda during her illness. We would also like to thank niece Lois, who provided personalized care and support. Prayers will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St. (Selkirk, MB) at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11. Funeral Mass will be held at the same location at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Pallbearers will be Wayne Kotowich, Jim Eramchuk, Joe Lesko, Herb Streich, Brian Bilous and Jerry Mazor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either CancerCare Manitoba or to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk General Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
