DARTNELL Ernest Dartnell passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 8, 2007 with his family at his side. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marion; his daughters, Donna (Loren) Cleven, Adele (Niles) Spiro and Marion-Ruth (Dan) MacKay; seven grandchildren, Coleen and Kathryn Cleven, Jay, Scott and Marie Spiro, and Cameron and Marion Marnie MacKay; his brothers, Reg (Doreen), Bert (June); his sister-in-law Eve, as well as numerous relatives and close friends. He was predeceased by his brother Jim. Ernie was born on November 30, 1918 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the second of four boys born to Jim and Muriel Dartnell. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Second World War. He and his family lived in Winnipeg until 1963 when they moved to Vancouver, BC. He will be remembered as a man of integrity who loved his Lord Jesus and his family. An eternal optimist, he encouraged everyone he met and would lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a faithful servant at both St. James Gospel Chapel in Winnipeg and Hollyburn Christian Fellowship in West Vancouver. Many thanks to Dr. Peter Richards as well as the staff of Evergreen House, North Vancouver for their consistently kind and loving care for Ernie. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Hollyburn Christian Fellowship, 14th Street and Duchess Avenue, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Daybreak Point Bible Camp Society, P.O. Box 18085, Vancouver, BC V6M 4L3.
