ESTHER SECELIA JACKSON 1898 - 2007 Peacefully in her sleep on February 10, 2007 at the age of 108, Esther Secelia Jackson passed away at the Misericordia Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her only son, Andy and his wife Elsie; her grandchildren, Brian (Carolyn), Barbara (Wayne), and Sandra (Pat); her great-grandchildren, Steven, Scott, and Laura Jackson, Jennifer (Ryan), Andrea (Sergio), and Sarah (Craig) Leslie, and Sean and Jamie Babulic, and her great-great-grandson, Jackson Zuk. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alfred (Jack); her grandson Robert; her brothers, Palmer and Nordahl, and her sister Alice. In addition to her immediate family she will be greatly missed by many, including her nephews, Denys (Barb) and Jim (Ruth) Stewart and their families, and Cam and Blanche McCallum and their family. Esther was born in Bridgewater, South Dakota, August 20, 1898 and resided in South Dakota until the age of 12. She moved with her family to Weldon, Saskatchewan in 1910, residing there on the family farm. She attended high school in Prince Albert and Normal School in Saskatoon, graduating as a teacher. While teaching in Weldon, she met a local, young banker from Carlisle, England named Alfred Sander Jackson. They were happily married in Weldon on July 19, 1923. Alfred was transferred with the Bank of Hamilton to Winnipeg, where they settled on Telfor St, subsequently moving to Strathcona Street, where their only son, Andy, was born. Shortly thereafter they moved to Sherburn St, where she continuously resided until 1986. At that time she moved to Lion's Place at the age of 89, and resided thereafter in her suite on her own until November 2004. A bout of pneumonia caused her to move to Cedar Grove, Misericordia Hospital, where she was lovingly cared for and made many new friends. Grandma was a teacher until marriage and thereafter a skilled Jill of all trades, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, much loved by all, including her faithful friend, Mercedes. In her later years, Grandma often felt that God may have forgotten her. We all know that he had much bigger plans for her. TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVED ME When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do, You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted in trust, It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on, So if you need me, call and I will come, Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say Welcome Home . Author Unknown In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Saviours Lutheran Church or the Misericordia Foundation. Funeral arrangements pending in Tuesday's paper.
