Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALDTRAUT OELLERMANN (nee MEYER) Waldtraut Marie Oellermann went to her Eternal Rest at age 81 years, on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at the Misericordia Place Personal Care Home, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinsonism. Remaining to forever cherish Waldtraut's memory are her daughter Ortrud; son-in-law Martin; two grandchildren, Kirsten and Markus; oldest sister Dori; her late brother Berthold's widow, Tilly; and youngest brother Karl-Friedrich and his wife Sonia. Waldtraut tragically lost her husband Edgar, her oldest daughter Siegrid and youngest son Johannes in an automobile accident on August 11, 1978. In September 1981 her third child Landolf passed away as a result of cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Waldtraut's deep faith carried her through these difficult times. Born in South Africa, Waldtraut spent most of her life there. In July 2001 she moved to Canada to be with her daughter and family. Waldtraut's funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 59 Academy Road at the corner of Wellington Crescent with Pastor James Scholz officiating. A private family interment will follow. The family wishes to thank all family and friends in South Africa for assisting Waldtraut during the early stages, albeit undiagnosed, of her illness. They also extend their gratitude to the home care workers who helped care for her while she was still living in their home. Many thanks go to the wonderful staff at Misericordia Place for their care and compassion especially as Waldtraut, Wally or Mutti as she was also fondly known, neared her end. Special thanks go to Pastor James Scholz for faithfully visiting our mother and sharing words of hope with her. A big thank you to all our family and friends whose prayers, words of encouragement and acts of kindness carried us through these difficult times. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Waldtraut's memory to the memorial fund of the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 59 Academy Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3M 0E2 or to the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation, 99 Cornish Avenue Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1A2.
