JESSIE ISOBEL VOEGELI Isobel Voegeli passed away peacefully on February 14, 2007 at Sunnyside Adventist Nursing Home, Saskatoon. Predeceased by her husband Kurt and brother Al Hurst. Isobel is survived by her daughter Candice Jones; son-in-law Robert; grandchildren, Lee and Lindsay; her sister Hilda Decker (Winnipeg) and nieces and nephews. Jessie Isobel Hurst was born May 12, 1924 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg in her late teens to live with her sister and worked at Great West Life. She met and married the boy next door , Kurt Voegeli when he returned from England after the war ended. Kurt, Isobel and daughter Candice moved to Calgary in 1957 after Kurt took a position with Prudential Mortgage and Housing. They lived in Calgary until 1967 when Kurt was promoted to the Toronto head office for six years. Accepting a new position within the company, the family returned to Calgary in 1973. During these years, Kurt and Isobel became very involved in the breeding and showing of miniature smooth dachshunds under the name Longfellow Registered. They often had the top winning of their breed in Canada. In the 1980s Isobel turned her attention to judging, studied hard and became a certified All Breed Dog Show Judge, traveling extensively throughout Canada. When Kurt died in 1999, Isobel re-located to Saskatoon to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Thank you to all the staff at Sunnyside for their care for the past two and a half years. In keeping with her wishes, Isobel was cremated. A private memorial will follow later this year in Calgary where Isobel and Kurt's urns will be interred together. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 3X1. Condolences may be emailed through www.cherished-memories.ca.
