Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARLENE MARY LACHANCE 1944 - 2007 Marlene Mary Lachance peacefully passed away at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton AB on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at age 62, after a brave and long struggle with cancer. Marlene was born in Winnipeg on October the 5, 1944, attended Springfield Collegiate class of 1962 and graduated from United College with a Bachelor of Education. She taught in the River East School Division for 30 years, with the majority of time spent as a resource teacher helping special needs children and also teaching French. Marlene was someone who would completely illuminate any room the moment she set foot inside with her beautiful smile and radiant energy that seemed to be never ending. She loved to garden and even after her illness had become quite advanced, still found the strength to plant a large garden full of fresh vegetables and pretty flowers. Marlene much enjoyed cooking and hosting gatherings at Christmas, Easter and other holidays. She would delight all the guests with a delicious feast and always have a tasty dessert for anyone who was able to save a bit of room. Marlene was predeceased by her first husband Wayne Rekus, and her mother and father, Eva (Wolod) Kolta and Damko Kolta. She is survived by her husband Dan Lachance; sons, Greg and Steven; sisters, Kay and Olga and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to be held at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 300 Donalda, on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
