EMANUEL BIEDLER 1916 2007 Emanuel Biedler, aged 91 years, of Beausejour, MB passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home. Manuel, the last surviving member of his family, was predeceased by his parents, Stephan and Amalia; siblings, Lydia, Rudolph, Willie, Reinhold and Irma. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Shirley, with 41 years of marriage. He will be missed by his extended family of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and brother in-law Norbert Arnold. Manuel was born in Friedensfeld, MB on January 6, 1916. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. John Lutheran Church and received his early schooling in Friedensfeld and Oswald Schools. At an early age he worked on the family farm with his father and brothers. In 1934, when he was 18 years of age, the family moved to Brokenhead, MB where they had bought some land and continued to farm. Years later, after the parents had passed away, Manuel and Willie continued to farm in partnership until the farm was sold in 1978. In addition to being a farmer, he worked at various other occupations. He delivered pulpwood to the Pine Falls Paper Mill, worked on road construction throughout Manitoba and was an Agassiz School Division bus driver for 15 years, from where he retired. Manuel was musically gifted. He could sing well and play many different instruments. He played with the Brass Bands at the Friedensfeld and Greenwald Churches. In his earlier years he and his friend, Frank Molinski, formed a two-man band playing at many country school dances, which was very much appreciated. It was the time of beautiful Square Dances and Waltz Quadrilles. He enjoyed all sports. Baseball was his special passion. He was very proud and honoured to be chosen to throw the First Pitch at the Manitoba Summer Games held at Beausejour in 1988. Also, he was involved and played for many years with the Dencross Team at Hard Ball League Tournaments. He enjoyed hockey on TV or at the Arena and never missed a game. He was as happy as a lark when he was able to bring home a Jets hockey puck. He loved bowling and was the recipient of many trophies. Manuel believed in community service and did a variety of volunteer work after retiring. He delivered Meals-on-Wheels for 17 years and drove countless numbers of people to doctor's appointments and shopping. Driving was his specialty and this was his pleasure. Special thanks go out to all who cared for Manuel during his illness at the Beausejour Hospital and East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home. You are all special. In lieu of flowers, donations in Manuel's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Inc., 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Beausejour with viewing prior to the service. Pastor Hugh Laidlaw will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB Toll Free 1-877-776-2220
