RAYMOND ALEXANDER CROSBY The Montreal Canadians have lost a devoted fan. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Raymond Alexander Crosby. He passed away in his home on February 12, 2007 at 68 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his surviving family, wife Shirley; children, Jason and Tanis; brother Brian (Elizabeth); niece Alison; nephew Jonathon, extended family, and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Alice. Ray was born in New Westminster. BC on May 6, 1938. Ray attended school in New Westminster and graduated from University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. After graduation he was employed by Richardson Securities as an analyst. In 1962, Ray married the most important person in his life, Shirley Bonner. They settled in Winnipeg where Ray was subsequently transferred. Later he was appointed the manager of the Investment Management Department where he completed his career with Richardsons. During this time, Jason and Tanis were born, and they brought much meaning and focus to his life. Ray then joined a partnership with D.V. McQueen Ltd. for five years, and later continued his career with private clientele until his retirement. Ray became involved with the River Heights Community Centre when his children began enrollment in its programs. He worked tirelessly to advance the hockey programs as Convenor, managed several teams, and also served for many years as President of the Community Centre. He was honoured with a plaque in recognition for his many years of service, though never expected any return for his efforts. Qualities which mattered to, and defined Ray as a husband, father, and friend, were loyalty, honesty, devotion, modesty, and generosity. Ray enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians, B.C. Lions, and New York Yankees sports teams. He also derived great pleasure from listening to a wide variety of music, and watching numerous educational shows and movies. His favourite times, however, were spent with his family, friends, and dogs, Frisky and Kola at our island on Lake of the Woods. Thank you to the emergency personnel who attended to Ray on Monday evening and to all of our friends and family who have leant their support through this difficult time. A funeral service to celebrate Ray's life has been arranged for Monday, February 19 at 2:00 at the Thompson In the Park Funeral Home at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to his favourite charities: The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter at 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1, or the Humane Society at 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. We will miss our dad/husband dearly. You were always there When we needed you No task too great or small With a loving heart And a willing hand For us you did them all Thanks for the years you gave us And for the time we shared We only pray that when you left us You knew how much we cared THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
