John was born in Sheho, SK and moved to Lake Francis, MB with his family where they operated a dairy farm. In 1948 they moved to Beausejour where they purchased a business now known as Naaykens Transport, which he successfully and proudly managed for 60 years until his untimely death. In his early years, Dad enjoyed curling, fishing and was an active member of his community. He served on the Beausejour Town Council and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was one of the pioneers in the development of the Canadian Power Toboggan Races in Beausejour and generously donated both his time and equipment in support of this organization. He was also a lifetime member of the Manitoba Trucking Association. Dad's enjoyment in life was his family. He provided unconditional love, support and leadership to us all. He thoroughly enjoyed our family gatherings and his presence will forever be missed. Pallbearers will be son John and grandsons, Darren, Kevin and Ryan Sachvie, Rick Johnson, Tim Hayward and Paul Bortoluzzi. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB with Rev. Fr. David Brabant presiding. You bid no one a last farewell, No chance to say Good Bye, You were gone before we knew it, And God only knows why. We pray that when you left us, you knew how much we cared, And until we meet again, May the Lord hold you in the Palm of His hand.
