ELSIE RUTH RUMLEY (KALKE) 1925 - 2007 Sadly on February 14, 2007, surrounded by her family and following a lengthy illness, Mom passed away peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Mom was born December 3, 1925 in Plumas, MB the youngest of five children of Augusta (Walters) and Christopher Kalke. At a young age she moved with her family to the Blackdale area. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Martha and Dorothy; brother Bill; Gordon Rumley; grandson Kevin Iwanicki. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Wayne (Vera), Diane (Randy) Iwanicki, Bill (Teresa) and Gale (Otto) Hladik; grandchildren, Darcy (Norm) Paul, Morgan, Clayton (Dawna), Shannon, Jamie, Jennifer and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Coleman and Alexandria; sister Lydia; nieces, nephews and friends. Mom wrote plays and poetry, loved to dance, and enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, watching TV and movies. Mom taught us virtues and values that remain with us today. We are grateful to Gale and Otto for all their hard work and dedication in helping mom remain in her own home, which was always her wish, until her hospitalization on August 26th. Special thanks to Dr. Darczewski and Dr. J. Moncek, the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and Home Care. Viewing will take place Sunday, February 18, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Funeral service will be on Monday, February 19, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Zion Lutheran Church, 2903 McPhillips Street (1.5 miles N. of Garden City Shopping Centre.) Interment Brookside Cemetery. Pallbearers: Randy Iwanicki, Otto Hladik, Wayne Bailas, Ike Wardekker, John Pashko and Norm Paul. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
