BARBARA BROWN ( nee CAIG) Peacefully, on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, with close family, friends and supportive Deer Lodge staff, Barbara passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 85 years. Barbara is survived and will be remembered by her son Garry, granddaughter Katherine (her mother Lorraine) and nieces, Susan, Karen and Cathy (her sister Jean's children). She was predeceased by her husband Frank and sisters, Agnes and Jean. Barbara's passions in life were her family, her friends (under the B, 1), bowling, gardening and the cottage retreat at Lundar Beach. There are many fond memories of back yard neighbour get togethers, the work required to make the garden just right , Lundar beach camp fires and of course the local Bingo, where Barbara could keep up to date on multiple conversations while at the same time, juggling a multitude of cards in the anticipation of winning a game. Barbara enjoyed music, both listening and trying to master the ability to play the piano and organ and the art of baking. The house in St. James has dearly missed the aroma of fresh baked bread and buns on Tuesdays. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Deer Lodge for their exceptional support and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 22 at Neil Bardal Inc, 984 Portage Avenue, Audrey Street entrance) at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue, R3J 0L3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Street, R3C 2B7.
