CLIFFORD THOMAS SUMNER Peacefully and surrounded by family, Clifford Thomas Sumner journeyed on to join his loved ones after a lengthy illness, on February 16, 2007. Clifford, aged 54 years, and better known as Chaj' was born in Little Saskatchewan First Nation to George and Ethel Sumner (nee Letandre). He was a labourer and a fisherman and most recently worked at the water treatment plant. Clifford was a talented and gifted singer and loved his country and gospel music. He sang at church and wake services and also enjoyed singing karaoke. Clifford spent a lot of time with his special cousins, Jerry Sumner and Ray Sumner Jr. He lived his life to the fullest and was very outgoing, even his illness never slowed him down. Left to mourn his peaceful passing are sisters, Elaine (Josh) Cormier, Sharon (Herman) Woodford, Colleen Anderson, Jean (Norman) Ryle, Lorna (Ivor) Traverse, and Garda Stagg; brothers Georgie (Dinah) Anderson and Ralph Sumner; daughter Wanda (Sheldon Anderson); granddaughters, Faith and Angel, two wonderful nieces, Raven and Robin whom he adored and loved; sister-in-law Viola Sumner; favourite aunt Sarah Plantz; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Clifford was predeceased by his parents, George and Ethel; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Elsie Letandre; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Louisa Sumner; brothers, George, Garry and Darren; sister Carla; brother-in-law Orville Anderson; uncles Rodney, Clifford, Raymond, Vernon, Churchill (Sumner) and Leonard Letandre; aunts, Mary Jane Letandre, Ruth Desjarlais and Marilyn Anderson. Special thanks to the Health Sciences Centre - SICU, IICU staff for their comforting care and to the Chief and Council of Little Saskatchewan First Nation, also to all the people that came to visit Clifford at the hospital. He fought a good fight, but is at peace now. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not be be So He put His arms around you And said come to me. You suffered so much in silence But now you are free of pain We would not want to wish this again. Rest in peace Brother, we will sure miss you! Wake services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church, Little Saskatchewan, Manitoba, with Asst. Pastor Donald Gould and Jim Anderson officiating. Interment to follow at the Little Saskatchewan Community Cemetery.
