Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABELLE MURDOCH (nee MELNYK) December 18, 1930 February 16, 2007 Peacefully on February 16, 2007, after a long battle with dementia, Isabelle passed away at Red River Place Personal Care Home, Selkirk, MB at the age of 76. Isabelle will be sadly missed by her daughter Lydia Holt-Schroeder (Murdoch); her son-in-law, Jeffrey Schroeder; her grandchildren, Brittany and Justin; her brother, Zeny Melnyk; sister-in-laws, Sonia Melnyk, Bernice Murdoch, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Isabelle was predeceased by her husband, Richmond Murdoch (1996); parents, Joseph Melnyk (1969) and Teenie Melnyk (Zadorazna) (1966) as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts and cousins. Isabelle was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. As a young lady, her love of fashion landed her a job at a clothing company called Dressland. She then moved on to work at Holt Renfrew and finally at Eaton's where, through a co-worker and future sister-in-law, she met her husband to be. Married in 1957 they built a house and moved to Petersfield, MB where she spent all of her happy years until moving into Red River Place in Selkirk, MB due to her illness. Mom's passion in life was her family. She was a fabulous cook and took great pride in keeping a tidy house. She stood by my dad's side through the ups and downs of farming - first mink then hog and finally grain. She loved her flowers, stories by an outdoor fire, long walks, bike riding, late night spooky movies and sleeping in. She enjoyed entertaining and there were often rounds of laughter far into the wee hours of the morning when playing cards with family and friends. She had a terrific sense of humor and soft heart for every living thing. Should you go first and I remain To walk the road alone I'll live memory's garden With happy days we've known. In Spring I'll wait for roses red, When fades the lilacs blue, In early fall, when red leaves fall I'll catch a glimpse of you. Heartfelt thanks goes out to all the wonderful staff at Red River Place Personal Care Home for your compassionate care over the years. You are truly heroes. A celebration of her life will take place at St. George's Wakefield Anglican Church, 8716 PTH 9 Clandeboye, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. Interment to follow in the spring. As an expression of sympathy, if family and friends wish, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
